Self-Storage

Tips

Tips

With these tips you’ll make your temporary storage a succes:

  • Disassemble your furniture as much as possible: a table with the legs disassembled takes up less space than a assembled one and is easier to transport.
  • You can stack chairs if you put them up-side-down, make sure you secure them carefully so they don’t tip over and get damaged.
  • Make sure you have enough boxes to store your goods, in our shop you can buy strong enough boxes to stack. Put the heavier boxes on the bottom and the lighter ones on the top of the stack. Fill your boxes properly so they don’t cave in.
  • Wrap your tableware in packing paper, which is available in our shop. Don’t use newspapers, they leave unremovable stains.
  • Write what’s inside on the boxes, and make a list of what’s stored inside the storage. Mark the boxes with fragile or heavy goods.
  • Store your fridges and freezer clean and dry, leave the door open a little to prevent smells.
  • Arrange your possessions in such a way that you still have room to walk, so you can reach everything easily. Put things you need more frequently in the front of your storage.
  • Use old sheets to protect your furniture from damage, in the Merkson shop, you can buy bubble wrap and moving cloth.
  • Don’t let your possessions get wet while you transport them, you can use our free trailer, to move your goods dry and safely.
  • You can protect your mattresses with a mattress sleeve, store the mattress upright and put other things next to it so it will stay straight.
  • Use drawers of cabinets to store small things.
  • If you’re storing longterm, remove batteries from appliances, if the batteries leak it can damage your goods.
  • Check if your insurance covers the storing of goods externally and how long the covering lasts.
  • You can always use our free trolleys.
  • Do you have any questions on wrapping/packing, transport or storage, ask for some advice, we like to think with you!
